Overcoming Post-Traumatic Effects in Women with War Trauma

The Association “Education Builds Bosnia and Herzegovina – Jovan Divjak” has launched the implementation of the project “Overcoming Post-Traumatic Effects in Women with War Trauma.” The project aims to strengthen the capacities of women, widows, and daughters, for emotional coping with trauma and their social integration into the local community. Through group therapy sessions and creative activities, participants will share their traumatic experiences, discuss the challenges they face, and jointly explore ways to overcome stigma and social exclusion.

The project is being implemented in cooperation with the Association of Families of Martyrs and Fallen Soldiers “Visoko 92” from Visoko and the Association “Golden Hands” from Ilijaš.

Planned activities:

  • organization of 20 psychosocial group workshops led by psychologists and psychotherapists
  • organization of two “Retreats for Mental Empowerment” in a safe and supportive environment
  • implementation of cultural and educational activities, including visits to theater performances and cultural-historical sites

The expected results of the project include a reduction in post-traumatic stress symptoms, increased psychological stability, and the development of mutual support among participants.

Implementation period: October 2025 – June 2026

This project is implemented with the financial support of the European Union (EU) and carried out by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) under the Regional Programme “EU Support to Confidence Building in the Western Balkans.”
