Ten months of support, empowerment and togetherness crowned with a final educational workshop

As part of the project “Overcoming post-traumatic consequences in women with war trauma”, the Association “Education builds Bosnia and Herzegovina – Jovan Divjak” organized an educational workshop on June 22, 2026, entitled “From idea to project: practicum in writing project proposals”. The workshop was held at the Association’s premises in Sarajevo and brought together representatives of the partner organizations “Organization of families of martyrs and fallen soldiers “Visoko 92” from Visoko and the Association “Golden Hands” from Ilijaš, as well as representatives of the Association.

This workshop was the final activity of the project, which has provided psychosocial support to women war widows and daughters from the Visoko and Ilijaš areas for the past ten months, with the aim of strengthening their emotional resilience, social inclusion and active participation in the life of local communities.

The goal of the workshop was to empower participants to independently recognize the needs and problems of members in their communities, shape project ideas and acquire the basic knowledge necessary for preparing project proposals. Through a practical and interactive approach, participants had the opportunity to learn about the basics of the project cycle, understand what donors expect from project applications, and learn how to formulate a problem, define goals, plan activities, and expected results.

The workshop program was based on the principle of “learning by doing”, with each theoretical segment being accompanied by practical tasks and group exercises. Participants worked on concrete ideas arising from the needs of their communities, developing drafts of their own project proposals.

The implementation of this workshop successfully completed the project “Overcoming Post-Traumatic Consequences in Women with War Trauma”, through which beneficiaries were provided with opportunities for emotional empowerment, mutual connection, acquisition of new knowledge, and development of skills that they will be able to use even after the project ends.

The project was implemented by the Association “Education Builds Bosnia and Herzegovina – Jovan Divjak” with the financial support of the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) within the Regional Programme “European Union Support for Confidence-Building in the Western Balkans”.
