Completion of the project "With education in the future - XVII"

On the occasion of the completion of the project “With Education for the Future – XVII”, which aims to support the regular schooling of the Roma national minority in BiH, on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, a gathering of Roma national minority scholarship holders of the Association “Education Builds Bosnia and Herzegovina – Jovan Divjak” was held.

In the school year 2021/2022. year, the donor funds of the Open Society Fund Bosnia and Herzegovina, CCFD and others, scholarships in the amount of 114,600 KM supported the regular education of 114 pupils and students of the Roma national minority.

During the gathering in the “Children’s House”, Public Institution “Center for Children and Youth Novo Sarajevo”, the scholarship holders exchanged experiences from the previous school year and got acquainted with the possibilities of continuing education and the opportunities provided by education.

In addition, the development of youth activism among young Roma in their local communities was discussed. Representatives of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, which supported the organization of the gathering, held an exercise and discussion on combating discrimination and presented opportunities to support youth activism.

The participants of the meeting were informed that an agreement was signed between the Open Society Fund Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Association “Education Builds Bosnia and Herzegovina – Jovan Divjak” on a grant for scholarships for 97 high school students and 10 Roma students in the school year 2022/2023. years.

With the cooperation so far, in the period school / academic 2005/2006. – 2021/2022. year, 1,970 scholarships were distributed to high school students and students of the Roma national minority, from 53 cities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the amount of 2,046,789 KM (direct support 1,861,553 KM, indirect support 185,236 KM).
